  Nikolai Popov (National Expert for Emergency Response)- After graduating from Kazakh State University in Geography, Mr. Popov is now a candidate at the Institute of Geography at the Academy of Sciences in Moscow. He has worked for Kazakh Hyrdometeorological Survey as well as “Kazelezaschita” specialising in debris flows. Before joining the working group, he worked for the Emergency Committee from 1996-1998. He has published over thirty papers and articles. He brings 25 years of experience in natural disasters to the working group and has undertaken study missions to China, Israel and the United States.
